« A quarter of all premature deaths and diseases worldwide are due to manmade pollution and environmental damage, the United Nations said Wednesday in a landmark report on the planet's parlous state. Deadly smog-inducing emissions, chemicals polluting drinking water, and the accelerating destruction of ecosystems crucial to the livelihoods of billions of people are driving a worldwide epidemic that hampers the global economy, it warned (...)» https://www.afp.com/en/news/15/environment-damage-behind-1-4-global-deaths-disease-un-doc-1ej2bo4
Yes. So we all need to live more sustainable. Every little act counts. This is why I work in renewable energy!
Sustainability is a myth and renewable energy just postpones the problem
Then what do you propose is the solution?

An other interesting piece: https://mashable.com/article/climate-change-2019-list/#5ES7cP37XZqo
This doesn’t make any sense. It sounds like this report was created to drive headlines and politics. For example: “rampant overconsumption, pollution and food waste in the developed world leads to hunger, poverty and disease elsewhere” Impact of overconsumption and food waste is very localized. Pollution from developed countries is minimal relative to developing countries, and again, is localized. Lack of access to clean drinking water is a very major problem, and is probably the driver of the deaths statistic, but it’s unrelated to the boogeymen mentioned in the article (growth, etc).
This sure sounds like a high number. 1.4M out of 7B die each year due to effects of industrialization. But before industrialization HALF of the world’s children died before reaching adulthood. Need to look at the bigger picture.
How do the other 3/4 die? Focus should be on improving sanitation conditions for everyone and to provide consistent supply for the needs. The plastics, including new phones every two years, and batteries for electric cars aren't going to get anyone there. Consumption needs to reduce. There's too much money spent on wants rather than needs.
It's the planet self correcting an overcrowded environment. A nuclear holocaust would be quicker, but it seems unlikely in the short term. All is good, think holistically
May be we should welcome the extinction of humans. We definitely are a burden on this planet and probably nature’s only mistake.
