Received Hootsuite offer, wanted to see if I can negotiate a bit higher. Doesn't seem like that great of an offer... Is this standard for Hootsuite? Location is Vancouver, Canada. base: $100kCAD RSU: 8500 units of paper money no bonus YOE: 4
Welcome to Canada, where housing is expensive and income is low. You get good Asian food though. Isn’t Hootsuite a sinking ship?
yea it might be.... but bar Amazon and Microsoft & SAP I don't think there's really anywhere that is better than Hootsuite.... I don't really want to go to Amazon for WLB reasons and never got responses from MS applications... refer me maybe?
Not sure about SAP being better, heard quite a bit about individual impact and you can always get stuck on a project that's going nowhere there.
That’s low for 4 YOE even for Vancouver... what’s your current TC?
what would you say typical salary would be? I'm currently on 90K
90% senior devs dont even make 100k in Vancouver.
I've worked there and for context their new grad offer is 80k. For Vancouver this seems OK but not amazing. I feel like the stock is pretty worthless since they're as far away from IPO as ever and seems like they're waiting for an acquisition that may or may not happen.
Hootsuite is known to be cheap
How’s it doing? I thought they weren’t doing so well. There’s other tech companies that would pay more in Vancouver if you discount the stock options.
Which ones? I must know them :)
Amazon, tableau, msft
If this is for an intermediate dev position I'd take it. 100k+options is not bad for 4yoe unless you're going to msft/amazon.
It's low compared to Zenefits/Amazon but still better than most local companies.
How much does Zenefits pay?
Glassdoor is accurate. DM me if you want a referral.
That’s a good offer
lvl? senior?
offer just states Software Engineer... not sure about levels
The pay is relatively good, if you dont want to consider FAANG in Vancouver.
