YOE - 5 MSFT india L62 current TC - 28l bp + 4 l bonus + 15k usd stock granted last year Offer from early stage start up in india. 40l base pay + 4l joining. 0.05% of current outstanding shares 4 year vest. Will be around 30th employee. I can try moving to Redmond MSFT as well on L1b and do not have any location preference between India and USA. I understand start up stocks are paper money but I would like to make more in savings in India over usa if some liquidation event happens given the risk I am upto. At 50% probability that company would IPO with 2 bn usd valuation in 2023 assuming total outstanding shares will get doubled due to dilution what equity should I aim from startup ? Let's ignore preferential stocks for simplicity.
“50% probability that company would IPO at 2 bn” haha that’s a good one.
Yep, this stood out. Even if the company already filed for IPO there are valuation risks.
I guess my man talking about rubrik. India team is probably less than 40 people.
Depends on the company rep. Which startup is this ?
Sorry I can't reveal the name as it is very small. The probability to liquidation is something that I arrived after taking founder's reputation, product potential, current annual recurring revenue etc. Into account
Out of curiosity I am just asking. Other than employees of the startups, is it possible to buy the shares before listing IPO?
What was/is the work based on in MSFT and the startup?
Building backend infrastructure / platform services for a developer productivity app
Which of the numbers don't you understand? 50%, 2B, 0.05. Something is really wrong in your offer and understanding.
Clearly 50 precent. Provide the name so we can also assess your claim
any competing offers?
Dont count 2023 IPO.. then compare
That's a good offer. Be very vary of stocks though... Also ask what happens to vested stocks if you happen to leave before liquidity event. Indian startups are notoriously bad at honoring their stock commitment. A lot of shady ways to rob employees of stocks. Get everything in writing.
This! ☝️
Thanks. The start up is USA based and the offer is to work from India. I can hold the vested stocks as long as I wish even after I leave. All this is verbal still and will get in writing if I choose to change.
