I like using blind to try to get people into good jobs. It's fun and makes me feel good to help out if I can. I recently had a chat with someone who wanted a referral. I told him I couldn't give him a referral because his education and experience didn't match the position. I offered him something a bit more junior. He tweeted my company CEO and essentially put me on blast. Now I have to talk to my boss tomorrow about having "low EQ" talking to candidates. Has this ever happened to you? Feel like I'm punished for trying to help a guy out.
Never try to help people whom you don’t know. Don’t try to be too generous for such candidates who don’t deserve.
Being able to refer good people is one of my favorite parts of the job. I hate that now I'm going to have to be very careful on blind. It's lead to 3 people getting jobs.
Find pride in that. Don’t be shamed there was a bad egg in the mix. You improved 3 people’s lives. Good on you!
It’s not your fault he’s unable to make the hiring bar. Let’s hope your CEO is smart enough to read between the lines.
Holy shit
Don’t you think your boss is right though? Reflect within about “low eq” point.
Idiot spotted
See why you should not help. This guy is a student. Does not have a company name. Do not help new grads.
How much referral bonus you got so far?
Nice to see a good troll post, thanks
Usually it depends how much we chat. If it's just a 10 min chat I throw it in the referral system with a comment that says something like "met online, good background, seems like a good candidate" If we chat more and I do a full interview with them I'll go harder
Referrals is not "vouching". It's just addind people to the pipeline.
Dang, sorry to hear that. This is why we can’t have nice things!
A lot of people on Blind are TC whores. You expect character out of them?
Name and shame. Post his username handle and company.
Roger that. Deserves it.
Can't do it. I don't want to do him like he did me
