I am expecting an offer from Netflix for a Senior Research Scientist position ( ML). Anyone knows about how much TC I should ask for? Current TC- 260k YOE-6 (MS, non PhD)
Ask for 500k, you should definitely get 450k
How much are others making on that space with your skills
May I ask which companies did you work for earlier and how did you get in to research teams
You may but I cannot reveal the companies :) . I got into research during my masters. My thesis was a patent and I had worked on it at a company. They hired me full time as a researcher and that is how I met your mother 😂
I would expect your offer to be 400k+. If you’re already expecting an offer, I’m sure it will be top of market for you. Netflix doesn’t really negotiate unless you have a competing offer.
Isnt 400k what SWE’s are making? Wont RS be more than that? I was assuming around 500k. Maybe I was wrong.
Research scientist is just data scientist for upselling recruiting/job attraction purposes. SWE’s make more.
This is not a Data Scientist position. This is a Core Ml/AI position. That was pretty clear from the interviews, presentations and interactions.
Netflix won't underpay you. That's all you need to know. If you want even higher, get some competing offers.

I tried negotiating and failed miserably. But they still paid me way more than I expected. Competing offers is the best leverage, always. Which team would you be joining?
Recommendation? Vision? Nlp?
RS without a PhD? You must have something else solid on your resume.
Yes. A lot of ML research, was lucky in previous companies.
All the best, I wish you get a great offer :)
