My TC is 145K. I was hired as new grad even though I had 3 years of experience in India. Is the experience outside USA not considered? What should I expect my compensation be when I make a move with total 5 years of experience (3 years in India + 2 years in US Apple) ?
India experience does not matter
5 years with 145 in the bay seems low. Are you engineering ? Is your boss Indian? I feel like Indian employee to Indian bosses for ppl with India experience, tend to be discounted a little. My general feeling. Not 100% but i feel like white bosses will consider experience experience.
Where was your experience in India? It is much more likely to be considered if it was at a well known product company. If it was at TCS/infosys or at some unknown Indian company, it will be discounted.
I worked at a US based product company in their Bangalore office.
Then it will count. Manager is bullshitting you. Leave as fast as you can and ask for 250k TC minimum. Aim for companies that pay in that range like fb, goog, Uber, Lyft, airbnb etc.
Why would you accepted that offer in first place?
I struggled to get calls for interview after I graduated even though my college is reputed. I ended up getting two offers at the end - one from Apple another from small start up which was paying much lesser.
What college are you from. You should start looking at other opportunities. If your company was a decent company - your India experience will count.
It’s called racism.
I experienced the same when I first came out to the states. Best advice I can give you: don’t take it personal. It’s not about you nor about your manager, companies are funded to make money either by generating profits or by maximizing savings. Think of it this way, if they were able to get you for that, why would they offer more? Also keep in mind that if they were able to convince someone with your experience to accept it, they will be able to find someone else. So keep your chin up, do the needful and never revert back.
Get an offer first. Talk to your manager about the concerns you have. Without base, bonus, RSU split it’s very hard to say what TC should be
The reason I did not put the split is because I get paid hourly( I clock extra hours) and my stocks is 60k for 4 years. So, overall it comes to around 145k.
