Got a verbal offer from vrbo for SDE 2 in Austin. Recruiter said the base will be around 128k. No mention of sign on and stocks yet. She said I am at the higher end of 'L' band. What can I expect in sign on, stocks and target bonus? Is there any scope for negotiation on base? So recruiter called back and offered max 15k sign on with 130k base. Is it good? No rsus. Yoe: 4
No stock on joining for L. But they can get stock in perf review
Thanks for confirmation. Do you think I can negotiate on the base though?
Getting a significant raise will be difficult so make sure you are comfortable with your salary coming in
Stocks are usually given to level M and up. This looks like a good base especially for Austin.
Even for M level I heard they start with 35k worth RSUs is it true
Except for target performance bonus, everything is conceivably negotiable (as long as base is within band) depending how badly company/team wants you..there are fairly wide bands for roles defined by level and location (I think Austin is probably in the lower geography band but im not positive about that.)
Ok, thanks for the info
For what it's worth (its a bit of a guess) I do think that base would be the higher end of L in austin....
Thanks
I see Senior SDE getting in a range of 98K to 130K on Glassdoor . Are you lying ?
In general numbers on Glassdoor for SWE are much lower than the market rate. I assume that much of their data is either outdated or simply comes from someone who hasn't been on the market in a while and is underpaid as a result. Levels.fyi is much better for actually seeing 2019 offers.
I see SDE 2 Austin salary as 110K base with 10K as bonus on levels.fyi
128k in Austin seems to be competitive, at your level. Obviously, see if you can negotiate for more. If it didn't work out, what you got is still good enough
128k is a really good base for SDE 2 in Austin. You can negotiate on joining bonus and base(as long as it's within the band) if you have a competing offer. No stocks while joining.
People in seattle do get stocks, atleast that has been the case since last year. I got and my friends too
