I am considering a few opportunities at Expedia. What are the different job levels? I see job postings as developer 1, developer 2, senior developer when i look at the jobs in software development and data/business intelligence field.. Usually what is the basic qualification requirement in terms of years of relevant experience? Also, how easy is to move to the next level or change teams within Expedia? Note- I work in data warehousing and BI field.

I saw this post hasn’t been answered yet, so sharing my understanding based on having been here a few years: Level - Title (starting experience) J - Junior (new grad, coding school) K - SDE I (new grad, new grad with masters, only 1-2 years of experience) L - SDE II (maybe 4-5 years experience plus) M - Senior ... then management / principle levels... director... For your other questions, I work as a dev, not BI/ warehousing (so I’m not sure how transferable), but Expedia has an internal blog where teams can post rotations and generally it seems okay/encouraged to move around teams. Rotations might be 3 months and you are back to your original team (or maybe longer or maybe you stay on the new team). I’m not sure how next level compares to other companies. I received a promotion from SDE I to SDE II. At the higher levels (director) there needs to be business justification for a promotion, but no real knowledge there only repeating what I heard in a town hall. Hope this helps as a starting point.
Thank you!
