I got an offer from hotels.com for 170k base, 30k sign on and 17.5% bonus of base. The weird thing is that the job posting said Head of Strategic Partnerhsips responsible for all of North America, but recruiter said internally the position is a Sr. Manager only! š³ So they want you to do the job of a director but pay sr. manager salary. Expedia and travel industry folks, how does this offer look? Current TC 217 / 11 yoe
Thatās a good offer for Sr manager level. Assume itās in Seattle?
That would be in Dallas, there is only 1 HCOM person left in Seattle. That's a pretty good offer for that level.
Role is based in Seattle. And agree itās good for senior manager level, but the work is for Head of Strategic Partnerships hence the title externally is Head of Strategic Partnerships. Perks are standardāemployee shuttle to office, free snacks and gym membership. No free hotel bookings lol and thatās not realistic. Also Expedia office moving to inconvenient location in Seattle.
Then you already have your conclusion :) The perks of moving is lots of turnover and you may transfer to another team for a higher level
Thatās a pretty big drop in TC, was the recruiter aware of your current TC and expected pay range?
That's highly above average non-tech snr. manager offer. There's also a target annual bonus around 17% (it fluctuates based on the company and individual performance) and many people at this level also get annual RSU grants (your org has to nominate nominate you at the end of the year and it's worth ~$25k). Head of smthg roles in EG are generally snr. manager roles. Good offer, it's up to you whether you like the role, but agreed that the new location is a major turn off for many people.
āHead of smthg are snr. mgr...ā so what are Directors?
Directors. That was my observation from working with marketing functions in EG, tech roles vary.
Depends on location. Its level M in non tech position and definitely an IC. If you're in Dallas that's an amazing offer to take.
If your current TC is 217, isn't this a downgrade? š¤
Exactly. Both in title and pay.
Then why to even consider
Seems like your current comp is higher so why move? Also Expedia is a shitshow. I quit within a year of joining. They donāt value new ideas. Too much politics.
Every company has its pockets of good and bad
I canāt speak to the baseā Sign on wise you have roomā ask for 60k expect 45k over 2 years Bonus targets are set by range Do you know what level this role is? Senior manager are typically level M External facing roles typical have trumped up titles to infer authority Hth
Expedia is a sinking ship that is on fire.
