Does it really matter, if a candidate just has bachelor degree, with no top conference papers? Suppose if he/she does really well in the interview , what are the chances of getting rejected in Hiring Committee in companies like GOOGLE. One of my friend told me that , Google can have team specific interviews , rather than going through generic hiring pool. He also told me in such interviews , more domain specific questions are asked rather than all leetcode rounds(either algorithms/design). How true is that?
It matters, but it doesn’t officially matter. Nerds who already have the degree(s) will judge you for not having one no matter what. Expect that and work towards being undeniable in other ways—like with your problem solving ability. To be honest, I’ve seen top-tier graduates push out shit work, so it’s a shame we’re still worried about degrees. Nonetheless, ignore the degree requirement and do what I said.
I got hired with industry experience and no degree after high school. YMMV
What do you mean top conference papers? That is not something people commonly look for in a candidate.
In Google search 80% of us are PhDs and probably 10-15% ex-professors. My team we have one guy with MS I feel bad for him ...

My boss found out I’m Jewish 😱 what do I do.
I interviewed for the google search team and 2/5 interviews were 100% based on questions about search. The recruiter had not told me about this, she mentioned I would be tested on my ml, coding, and communication skills. I flunked the interview. It was for a data scientist position.
Thanks . But how did you manage to get team specific interviews?
I didn't manage anything. That's what the recruiter told me I will be interviewing for in our first conversation.
