I just got an offer from a FANG company for the summer 2020 internship in UK. SWE position. Can’t help but think about long term goals and places to be in. In my early career I want to prioritize learning and increased responsibility over TC and WLB. Later I want more WLB and TC. Europe is nice because it is close to where I come from and would prefer it over the US where I would need to start my life over and be so far away from everyone I know. I was thinking of staying in UK for a significant time if I get a return offer from FANG. In 5-10 years maybe consider moving somewhere else, like Zurich. What are other cool places, Dublin? Taking into account my goals, is that an appropriate strategy? I am planning to start a family shortly after getting a full time offer (2-3 yrs), so that is a thing to consider also. thanks

Pay is crap all over Europe. Even in Zurich. Prioritize getting your butt to US while it still rains money there
Do these big companies actively do internal transfers? If I get a return offer in Europe; do you know how easy it is to get to US? And is the pay going to be the same as all other non-transfer workers?
Yes, normally after 1 year mark you should be able to transfer to US on L1B without lottery in any big tech company. Pay's gonna be worse than a direct US hire. There is no incentive for them for raise it on transfer, and initial stocks grants in Europe are much lower. Besides on L1B you're gonna to be stuck with the company for a while - why overpay you if you're not going anywhere
