Do you get FANG recruiter attention with your “Open to Job” LinkedIn settings turned off? What is the best way to get FANG recruiter attention? Is it worth turning your LinkedIn “open to jobs” and risking your current employer know about it? Does it even help?
Turn it ON. Two FANG companies contacted me this week since I turned it on few weeks ago. Make sure your LinkedIn profile has key words mentioned in “preferred requirements” for the job you are interested in.
Where do you see “preferred requirements”? I know see a section called “note to recruiters”, is that what you are talking about?
I tried to turn it ON for few months but didn’t see much activity... with about 15 years of software dev experience at sr staff level, I am wondering where is my profile sucking! Wondering if that is a common thing for people with ~15+ years of experience?
Nope, inbound is #1 on LinkedIn.
It doesn’t matter for FANG’s. Turned off the looking for opportunities setting last week, and was just contacted by Facebook yesterday. Also, I set up a Google interview once by messaging a hiring manager at Google since he had the words “I’m Hiring!” on his profile. I said something to the effect of, “my skills align with the team you’re building” , and we setup a call the following week.
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
It makes you more visible to people that use that as a search filter. You can also update your profile once a week, minor tweaks, add and delete same word over and over again and you'll pop up on people's searches as recently updated.
Was a bit positive for me with regards to FANG Uber Airbnb etc right after I turned it on. Of course you’ll have to put in the right skills, job descriptions etc to show up in their search results
Current employer doesn't get to know 'open to jobs' thingy
