FB - which equipment to opt?
Got an offer recently from Facebook. As part of onboarding I need to select the equipment like laptop and mobile (I guess). I will be opting for a MBP 15" as my laptop. Confused on the mobile selection. Does Facebook offer choice among Android phones? Can I choose a Pixel 2 instead of a Galaxy? Or I can just say Android and they will provide whatever is in stock?
You can only choose from the choices. For iOS, they only gave 8 not X.
Pick a beefy laptop because you're probably going to be compiling all your code on it
Why? All compilation is on dev servers
Totally depends on the team, or did when I was there ~2 ½ years ago. WWW (hack/PHP) was on the dev servers and pretty much impossible to so anything with except remotely but C++ for infra was subpar when worked on remotely and Java pretty much impossible to work on except locally. Plus mobile is (or was) pretty much 100% local.
You only have like 1 choice for laptop. It’s the 2015 MBP.
