Hey everyone, I'm deciding between new grad offers for SWE from these three companies. For a little background -- I will be graduating in June with a BS and an MS, both in Computer Science (concentration in Artificial Intelligence), from Stanford University. I interned at large tech company for last three summers. I want to go to business school in 2 years so I might not be there that long... FB: 115k base, 10% or more annual bonus 150k stock 80k sign-on Apple: 130k base, unsure of bonus structure 90k stock 30k sign-on Uber: 110k base, 10% or more annual bonus 110k stock 20k sign-on Thanks everyone!
OP are those base offers or did you negotiate? Will you be working in your specialty domain (AI) in all 3 teams?
Initial offers, no negotiation, starting to right now.... Apple no, FB unclear because of Bootcamp matching process, Uber I have the option to go to an ML team or not
Is working in AI your preference? From what I hear 130k base seems rather common amongst other new grads with an MS from good schools (less prestigious than Stanford) in my personal circle (I am not a new grad myself). I would urge you to negotiate - you could probably land at least 145 base, or at least get others to match Apple. Personally if you were inclined to be in ML I would join the team that is either doing ML work, or is as close to it as possible. Also if you’re joining an ML team - try to negotiate the title to be ML Engineer instead of the standard SDE.
Facebook bootcamp doesn’t let you join ML teams if you weren’t hired as an ML engineer. Uber is a good choice from that perspective. What valuation is the 110k stock at? Note that Apple doesn’t provide perks like free food.
FB for sure! Congrats on all 3 offers though!
thank you!
Apple if TC is the only factor choose FB
I’ve seen New Grad BS only offers higher than or at least similar to these, are companies giving less overall these days? OP did you negotiate at all?
Fellow Stanford card here. Would recommend you joining FB.
Congratulations OP. Nice work. I'm proud of you. Here's a cookie 🍪 Oh and negotiate that fb sign on to 100k, then take fb.
ICT2 at Apple is hourly so you can make up a lot of the difference by working overtime (@ 1.5x)
