Tech with 15 yrs exp, and interview with FB Data center infra role (hw/SW interaction). Was told E5 is a good.target level but seems more like I shd be offered an E6.

What shd I expect in terms of salary, bonus, sign on and RSUs at E6?

What is the blind convention for calculating tc? (base for 4 years+stock+sign on)/4 ?

Or is Target bonus/stock for that level ( for 3 years ) is added to the above total and then the sum is divided by 4? To calculate per year TC..

Obviously if I was capable of getting into FB, I would not be in AppDynamics. What I wrote is what I have heard from Blind, quora etc.

That’s some self defeating shit. Plenty of Fbers came from that-small-it-company-at-the-corner and people do pursue shit loool

Some one pls answer this. If E6 is "difficult" does it imply FB only hires up to E5 and very rarely they hire E6? Surely they must hire at higher levels. My q is what is the criteria where E6 is almost a no brainer?

All the best for your interview. I have heard system design round is the key to deciding E6 level. Try to ace that round. Easier said than done.l though.

Yes, by architectural interview, I meant system design. Facebook uses the terms: Jedi (behavioral), Ninja (coding/algorithms), and Pirate (architecture/design). E3/E4 is more heavily focused on Jedi/Ninja. E5 is more balanced across Jedi/Ninja/Pirate and E6+ adds additional Jedis and Pirates.

If it's not too much to ask, can I ask someone to post a couple of Pirates and Jedi questions?

And how about E5? Btw im pretty close to Principal at intel (Grade 9) and I'm an architect in the data center group. Have direct experience in what the role is asking for.

      E5 maxes out at 180/600

Would one get this without any competing offers? I doubt it. More likely to be close to 400k. I am guessing, though.

E5 doesn't max out on 600k. I had $700k+ Amazon stock and FB matched it when I joined.

There's no "max" at FB. Typical offers have $400k RSUs.

Just to be clear, the comp numbers mentioned here are all applicable only to SWE. Other eng roles pay less. What's your title going to be exactly?

    • Facebook gLKg44
Then it's most likely not going to be SWE, and you shouldn't expect anywhere near the same amount of RSUs. Base is similar across roles.

    • If you are a HW architect for ML processor, you can make significantly more than a SWE at the same grade.

For that I first have to make it to L6 at Google "organically". I'm trying to avoid that and leverage my existing experience. Kind of sick waiting for promo to Principal at Intel. The wait list is long and I'm way overdue.
