FB EM1 Offer Eval

Background: I am a senior swe at a FAANG managing a team of engineers.

Offer from FB:
Level: EM1 (so one level higher then current)
Base: 220k
Stocks: 1M over 4 years

Is this a fair deal? Can I ask for sign on our other additional compensation? If so, how much is reasonable?

Ha, the reason I said fang was just to mean one of the big top tier companies as opposed to Cisco or a start-up. Does FB care as much if your coming from Amazon vs Google vs Apple?

FB gives good sign on bonuses. Definitely negotiate for that, but offer seems great apart from that.

Are you sure about SB. They eliminated cliff vesting, not sure if that impacted SB anyhow,
      Mar 3, 2018
    • Google UBdG56
Yes, my friend (Data engineer E3) was offered 10k signing. He negotiated to 25k without competing offers. New grads at fb that were interns, and received return offer were given up to 75k signing. They're definitely willing to budge on SB.

Not a bad offer considering I've been an M1 for 3 years and your base is $10k more than mine. Your RSU package is standard.

Please ask at least 260 K Base. Your Base needs to be in high band
      Mar 3, 2018
    • Google myobx
@lopa, when your say RSU is standard, do you mean that I can expect to get 250k refresh every year?
      Mar 3, 2018
    • Google myobx
@zHLlly06, since you're at Qualcomm, could you share whether your suggestion to ask for 260k base was in earnest? I just wanted to make sure I don't offend the recruiter.
      Mar 3, 2018
    • Qualcomm / Eng zHIy06
RSU is standard, I have few folks @F whose high band nearly touches that and who are working in that band for ~2 years. So better to ask high band range since once you get in, your yearly raises will be nothing compared to other folks in your team.

Wow, nice! I’m at 7yrs and a senior at msft. I’ll aim for a trajectory like yours

You're almost there. At Google, you can start managing when you become senior. Most people recommend starting to manage when you hit staff. I would have done so if the promo process was not as difficult here. I'm sure you'll be faster than me.

Very interesting that you are getting a level bump and moving across the Swe EM ladders in one move, seems like a sweet deal, may I ask which org

I'm already leading a 10 person team of engineers across a couple of teams, so I guess I'm already doing some of that work.
