Have an L5 offer at Google for about 30% more equity since I’ve hit my cliff at FB. Has anyone made such a move and can share their experience? I’m a little hesitant in taking the offer since I’ve heard it’s extremely hard to get promoted to L6 at Google and I have a chance to get to L7 at FB in a couple of years. TC 400K
So more pay and less responsibility, I personally like it
Can't you use your Google offer to negotiate a counter at fb?
No.
The work life balance at Google is much better than FB, but it is true that’s hard to get promoted to L6. I am so surprised FB L6 TC can be beaten 30% by Google L5
Well I’ve hit my vesting cliff at FB that’s why L5 TC is higher.
Doesn’t FB refresh your stock every year?
A wise man once said, never level-down. Level-up is fine.
What's your goog offer?
It’s 30% more of 400k, read the question dude
Thanks mr obvious. I was asking for the breakdown of rsu vs base.
If you claim that you have a chance of getting promoted to l7 in a couple years then your refreshers should have been high enough to compensate for your cliff. Since your refreshers arent good enough, i dont think you’ll promote to l7 at fb, so i think you should take it and give it a shot at it at google.
This is just bs advice with no understanding of how refreshers work at fb. Refreshers are formulaic. E7 promo has got to do more with scope and opportunity. If OP cares about career progression I'd recommend talking to directors and vp in the org to pitch for a DE
Sometimes when managers are giving promo hopes, they also use that to justify/sugarcoat the cliff.
Google L5 pays 520k???
520k for L5 at Google? That's towards upper end of L6
