jif
1-year layoff rate for Amazon l6 & fb e5 is rocket high
Why would you leave a 105k offer in India? Unless you are a US citizen or have some clear path to GC/citizenship, id enjoy the high TC/CoL ratio in India.
The FB offer is ~4 times that of Google India. He can easily save way more than he saves in India and leave a very good life
I know several FB E5s and none of them lead particularly good lives lol. But jokes aside, consider the increased stress of FB E5, visa status, CoL adjustment, etc. Assuming FB is MPK, youâll have to downsize on your home if you want to send your kids to good public schools. Labour is more expensive so if you want to keep maid service, cooking, etc budget for it. I guess if money is all you care about then take FB, but keep in mind the additional expenses. If you tend to have more luxurious tastes such as expensive cars and frequent vacations, then definitely take FB though, because all those things cost way more in India.
So we count all signon into TC?
Isn't 105k in India is living like a king kind of money? Never been there but I'd assume so. The immigration is a fucking mess and adds a lot of stress on top of already stressful job at fb. You'd have a lot more room for growth in us though. Tough call.
Given the fact that home prices are at same level as most midwestern cities, i don't think it is that high.
Are you freaking kidding me? Google India $105k is any day a better offer. Trust me, you have better life in India for sure. A family friend moved to India although she got transferred from Google Mountain View to Bangalore. Not once she has regretted her decision. Except traffic, you have literally nothing to complain about; itâs not any better here these days and you can beat that problem by staying close to office. You get maid help to do all your chores, literally everything. Add to that, food, parents, friends and relatives.. nothing can beat that!
And yeah.. if you are on H1B, god save you. Even if you get 500k base, you will still be crying when it comes to immigration. Remember the news recently when a Washington family was stranded in India because of immigration issues and they couldnât return to the US. He had a PhD if Iâm right and had many technical journals and patents if Iâm right.(I might be wrong as well). But his was a pretty damn good profile and was here since 20 years and still crying because of the broken immigration system. You wonât have that headache in India if you are an Indian citizen by birth of course.
That's really important point you raised.
Have you worked with Amazon with in the last 3 years? Have you talked to the recruiter about your L1 visa? I am not sure if you can get H1B.
Until a few years back coming abroad made sense, at least financially. The difference was enough to compensate for the other losses - away from friends and family and where basic infrastructure like electricity and water were unreliable. Fast forward a few years, the incomes have increased substantially. The infra is better. The work is also no longer consistently second grade work. I give this feedback to all my cousins who occasionally get curious about coming to USA for work.. I tell them it isn't worth it anymore
TC?
