I got an offer from Facebook and can’t decide. I am a self taught dev with a mostly unremarkable resume, 5 yoe. I absolutely love my current company, a startup. All my coworkers are amazing people, the pay is nearly as good, it has fantastic WLB. But I feel like my career would progress faster at FB and I feel the engineering challenges would be more interesting. One day I’d like to start a company of my own and I feel like people would take me more seriously if I had FB on my resume. Perhaps I’m wrong on that count. In any case it’s a tough decision and I’m wondering what all of you had to say!
So why did you consider going through the interview? That should be your answer?
To be honest, I thought I had a ZERO percent chance of getting an offer 😂 I didn’t apply either, they reached out to me. I wanted to see what a FB interview was like. I was floored when they actually gave me an offer.
I say if you are opened to new opportunity go for it. Go when you feel satisfied with your accomplishment. Don’t stick around because people are nice. You have to care for your own future :)
Fucking take it. Same here in terms of the whole self-taught, unremarkable thing. The name brand comes with power, and after a year of working at such a high capacity (you’ll be around top-tier talent) for a year, you’ll be miles ahead of almost every other org in the world (your ability to deliver will be insane—the bar is way lower out there).
Go to facebook, you need a brand name in your resume for legitimacy, SPECIALLY if you want to start your own company one day
Stay if you like your job. FB isnt going anywhere but if you ditch your coworker friends wont forget. And for similar pay?
^^^^ Don't listen to this
Ask FB for a significant increase from your current offer. Since you're not desperate for the job in a reasonable case you get something between your current offer and what you're asking. Worst case you're still stuck with the same question :)
Your heart is telling you to make the jump; listen. You can work at FB and still be friends with your current team.
Unlikely, they will resent you
depending on which team you will be on, you may not work on the challenging part. most of the challenging problems have been solved. that being said, it’s still a great place to work at.
In my experience, having a company on your CV who's #1 in its sector and recognizable will open doors to VCs willing to pay top dollar due to the fact that you have objective proof of your talent. If you sincerely wish to start a company, an organization the size of Facebook will give you access to people who already went through the process of starting a company successfully and possibly even individuals who've sold their own company to Facebook. They can walk you through successes and failures they came across which will help you immensely.
Take it! You will not regret it. Startups are over rated.

11 offers to laid off[UPDATE]: 5 offers
In my opinion I would take it just for the name brand and recognition but leave on good terms if you ever want to come back and they have openings you never know.
