Hello, I have 2 years exp as a software engineer at a small (and stale) startup. Fb offer: 115k base, 100k rsu (25 per yr), 20k sign on. Some colleagues at google (SWEs) tell me this is low. I wanted to get an opinion from DEs at Facebook. I expect to hear back in the coming few days from Tableau for a SWE interview I did. I'd like to know what to target when negotiating, regardless of the 2nd interview outcome Thanks
I would go with tableau sde
Is there a role like DE in FB? I thought there is only PE or SWE?
Yes, DE is a position. There's also a Network Engineer position.
Can you share what questions you were asked and what preparation helped?
I'd say the questions were 35% SQL, 35% product sense and 30% coding. There's a behavioral component in each. I heavily prepared on SQL (SQL zoo, leetcode). Both before the phone screens and on-site the recruiters provide comprehensive prep materials which will give you insights you'll likely get nowhere else.
@7d5: how was your coding round? I did poor in coding but in other rounds, I did really good. What are my chances? Thanks in advance!
I can confirm that this is a usual DE entry level offer.
What level is that? E3?
Sounds about right for an entry level DE position. Keep in mind that DEs get paid less than SWEs at Facebook.
Thanks for the reply! I notice some people mention the major difference in SE and DE comp at Fb is in Equity. Would you say that's true?
Yes. Base salary remains the same. 115k is master's new grad base salary if that helps.
