What is the Data Scientist role at Facebook like? Is there room for career progression? What's the interview like?
🍿
Search for joma on YouTube. It's pretty miserable. Just stay in swe if you can (or apply else where).
Career progression is a big problem in ds. It’s not like SWE.
Can you explain further?
Most DS are lower levels than SWE. Only a tiny percentage actually make it above IC5 and the expectations at each level are much higher than for SWE.
No career progression. You get demoted every year.
Shit. The comments in here are insightful. Can you explain what you mean?
I thought it was obvious, but that's a joke. In a company like FB, you don't pick a role based on "career progression", you pick it because it you enjoy the work and it aligns with your strengths. No matter what you do, if you're among the best at what you do, you'll have a successful career.
Product sense, a/b test design, etc. Sharing one pointer for you: https://www.rooftopslushie.com/request/Facebook-DS-role-interview-feed-back-620
What kind of questions around ab test design, can you provide examples?
