I had given on-site interview for Technical Program Manager at Facebook last Tuesday. I followed up this Tuesday and the recruiter told that debrief meeting hasn’t been done yet. She told she will let me know by Friday i.e. today but she hasn’t told anything yet. 1. What’s the typical time frame for a reply after on-site? 2. Assuming they call 3 people on-site, do they do debrief meeting for each candidate separately or once all interviews are done? 3. If they like 2 candidates and I am the 2nd one, do they just keep me on hold till the other candidate accepts the offer (without replying anything)?
1 week ideal, 2 weeks ok
If it helps... a month later I'm still waiting. Was told I was "top 2" ...which I guess they tell a lot of people? Still waiting....just silence..... Sadly...same situation at another FANG for me. Entertaining Google in the meantime.
Which other FANG was it ?
Amazon... While Amazon made its way to the big tech companies...and pays like big tech giants, which is good and dandy, i just think operationally they are far behind...there's nothing exciting about Amazon besides good compensation and semi-brand. I don't and can't put Amazon at the same level as Facebook, Google, and Apple. Heck I will even put Microsoft and Oracle above Amazon
1) usually 1 week 2)they call more than 3 folks onsite and all the debrief happens on a Monday. If you did your interviews last week, it should have happened Monday this week. 3) yes. They do that. If you are not the first choice they let you hang around. Once it took me 4 weeks to get a negative response.
How often did you reach out to them while you wanted the 4 weeks? Were they responsive throughout the 4 weeks or plain silence? How often did you reach out to recruiter while you waited?
I reached out twice and they responded once. I moved on before I got a response. But anyway I got a negative response.
So I have a telephone round as a Tech Program Manager coming up. What kind of questions did they ask you in the telephone round. Thanks
Have you heard how the feedback of all your interviewers were like? Negative or positive?
Facebook is hiring a lot. There's no such thing as on hold, waiting, etc unless you're preallocated and/or very high level.
What kind of roles are preallocated?
If you’re a really specialized developer and/or at a really high level, FB may target you for a really specific role. For instance, if you’re a prominent person in the database community, they may hire you specifically for a team/role that pertains to that. In that case, you wouldn’t pick your team during bootcamp because you’d already be assigned to a team. It’s the sort of thing you’d probably be told either going into the interviews or at the time of the offer.
