Facebook E5 offer

Got verbal E5 offer, but haven't discussed sign-on yet
Base: 200k
RSUs: 600k
target bonus: 15%
NYC
6yoe

I have scheduled a team-match phone call for G next week as well, but the recruiter refused to discuss leveling before it.

I don't think I'm any good at negotiation. Didn't hold long before giving out my numbers. And they simply agreed. Maybe I underestimated myself...

      That’s p99 actually.
And if you consider the yoe, it becomes totally insane.

I was offered those exact 600k equity and 15% bonus numbers (except for base of 190k and sign on of 50k) in 2016 for a production engineering role at E5, FYI. This was in Menlo Park. I still have the pdf of the offer. This was after some negotiation.

I remember back then the stock was at 110$. Shit, I should have accepted it lol.

My TC is currently higher. I am at a startup and was an early employee so TC is around 800k (I was very early). It’s mostly illiquid but the company is starting to do buybacks so last year my W2 was like 980k due to a buyback... that’s why I didn’t accept FB, but sometimes I think it’d have been better for my technical growth. If I won’t be able to get liquidity on the rest of my shares it might end up at or below FB TC when averaged over the years, minus the prestige and technical challenges of FB. So I consider it a wash basically.

To be honest I am pretty happy about it. But I won't call it insane after someone said they had a million W2 lol

Don’t feel bad man, after taxes is not that much and it’s not guaranteed. Sheer luck. Probably what you’ll be accomplishing at FB will be more fulfilling than the shit I go through.

I myself am considering reaching out to the recruiter again and try to get another E5 offer and maybe take it this time.

I was not feeling bad lol. I'm lucky to have what I have. Someday in the future I will probably take a high rewarding risk like you did.

It went pretty well. I really enjoyed it. Unlike most interviews I had, some of the Facebook interviews did let me demonstrate what I learned in my career.

This is a very good offer at E5. You might be able to negotiate 100k sign-on with competing offers.

Less likely . $100k sign on is mostly on BA and sometimes on Seattle
