Currently working at a no name tech company with 1 YOE total. In the process of interviewing for a contracted FB Enterprise Engineer role through TEK systems, which includes benefits and a higher TC. Seeing lots of negative things about FB Enterprise Engineering and TEK systems in general, but ultimate goal is to convert to full-time SWE at FB (which I understand I would have to go through the full process for) or another large tech company. Im hoping that this will open more career doors for me in the near future when I start applying again for a FT (in 3-6 months). Is this a smart career move? Would I be better off staying at my current job and waiting and applying later for a full time SWE opportunity? Is having FB contracting experience even beneficial for SWE prospects?
It’s not more useful. I would say it’s less helpful. I’m a TVC at Google now and it’s impossible to convert to SWE if you don’t pass the interviews. But it’s still a good opportunity if you don’t have time to study for interviews
I understand that the interview will always be difficult. Would you say your prospects for at least getting the opportunity for the interview are increased due to your status as an internal contractor?
