I spoke with FB recruiter today a week after onsite and had a very tentative offer of 180 base, 250 stock, 15% bonus (so TC 270). This isn’t a huge jump from what I make now but it is enough that staying at MSFT would be silly. My questions are: (1) has anyone had luck with negotiating with Facebook? Even +5k on base? Or should I just go for stock? (2) is this worth trying to take back to MFST and get them to match or exceed? Has anyone been successful with that? (3) is there anything MSFT does benefits wise that is worth using as leverage during FB negotiations? Thanks all!
Is this for E4 / E5?
What's your YOE and what level at FB?
Try not to judge so much on this because I’ve done a lot of work and been promoted quickly... PhD and 2 years of work experience total at startup and microsoft
Absolutely not judging, just checking if it's clear low-ball. The base and the stocks don't add up. Check with your recruiter what level is this for.
How many years of experience do you have?
SWE? Base is on target for E5 but stock waaaayy to low.
DS - but yeah... I wouldn’t have guessed it was too low. Thanks for chiming in. I think it must be E5 because the bonus is at 15%
This is definitely low for phd +2yoe
I am PhD + 15 years experience - guess what I make at ms and what I was offered in the past at fb
I don’t think SWE and DS offers are comparable.
People here seem to be missing that this is DS offer which seems to be decently lower than SWE. There are some data points on blind for phds for DS at Facebook. OP are you for analytics or core/ML team?

The stock is way too low for the 180 base, don't try to negotiate base, but they surely can do better for stock
