Facebook PIP

Been seeing posts from Facebook engineers about getting PIP'ed. It's unfortunate. How common is it for other roles at Facebook to get PIP'ed? Like product management, product marketing, etc. ?

Know folks who got PIPed in PM and PMM role

Do you know what was the justification? How did they not meet the performance requirements? It's so vague for PMs

I think pip is a nice way of letting people know you need to start looking for another role. Would you rather have Facebook just straight up fire them?

Lol you need to join FANG bro. People can get pipped for some dduuummbbb shit in FANG.

Have an onsite with AWS IoT Core on Monday and also waiting for team match and HC decision for Google so hopefully I’ll see it first hand. Still I’d rather get PIP’ed for dumb reasons than fired for dumb reasons.

Pip is a special privilege that only swe's enjoy. Managers rarely get pipped, because e5 and e6 need to find their own projects so managers are not responsible if those projects fail

Managers at Amazon get pipped all the time

What's the main reason?

Must be hell. Yeah if I were pip’ed I’d look for a better fit, pronto.

Probably TMI but at IBM I interviewed for another role within, my boss found out and PIP'd me so the new manager couldn't hire me. PIP last 30 days, I did what I could and closed out the PIP and didn't get booted. Motivation was crushed though, and all other internal doors were closed for me from that point on...

Good info Not TMI

You must read Amazon. Literally half of posts are about dev plans and PIPs.
