Facebook Seattle?

Got a call from a recruiter this morning about a job at FB in Seattle. Sounds like there would be some flexibility with where I worked, but would have to relocate to Seattle. Any pros and cons moving from Texas to Seattle?

“Sounds like there would be some flexibility with where I worked, but would have to relocate to Seattle.” ... wat?

I’d take Seattle over Texas. Then again where in Texas are you? We need city to city comparison here.

Austin TX

Honestly both cities are expensive. Texas has insane property taxes if you buy a house.

There is some flexibility in where I work. FB has an office here in Austin, but was told I would have to be on site in Seattle or the Bay Area. Cost of living is higher in Seattle, but do have family up that way, so that’s a plus.

I prefer TX then. Save more money

I moved from Houston to Seattle and love it. Cooler climate, great outdoor activities, good food/wine/beer, beautiful views. There are more gray days but less rainfall overall. Summer is gorgeous here. It's up to you though... It's a personal decision.

Seattle is beautiful but the food in general is underwhelming. Exceptions are seafood and Asian cuisine. Everything else, meh.

Less rainfall 🙄

The comp diff should be so much that it’s more in Seattle even tho cost of living is higher. So u should interview

You would be crazy to choose Sea over Aus. The strip clubs in TX are way better 😜

Better than FL which are legendary?

FL has way too much bling thanks to the NYC transplants and athletes. But Tampa > Austin there

@OP I’d have a hard time picking between Seattle and Austin but I’d pick Seattle. Just my personal preference because I love the PNW. Which team office, in your opinion, is offering more visibility/access to Facebook HQ. Just thinking on a professional/career level. I know at Amazon some teams suffer from not being close to HQ.
