Facebook Teams ML
What are good FB teams to join as a data scientist intern where I may get a chance working something related to ML ? Suggestions from Recruiter: Ads, Marketplace, Groups, Messenger, Games, Search, Infrastructure, and Instagram)! I also have a call with DS at instagram this week.Not sure if I can ask him about ML teams. Any suggestions please!
DS at Facebook is largely analytics / SQL
Yeah I know but some teams have DS working on atleast Basic ML.So just trying to understand which teams have that option.
I worked on the AML (Applied Machine Learning) team @ FB as a DS and if you wanna work on more ML-researchy things then ask specifically about that team, there’s usually 1-2 spots for DS interns every summer. For more product focused teams where you can learn more about how ML is applied in product ... focus on Ads, Search, Integrity teams ... those will be your best bet. The reality is you won’t be working on the core ranking systems those teams build but if you express a strong interest, whoever your intern Manager is can help you scope out a project that will allow you to work in a lil ML ... ie use NLP/text classifiers to understand search query intent

Can you tell us more about what teams are a good mix of distributed systems, infra and ML at the same time? New grad joining soon and was interested in a mix of this.

Yeah but in most of them DS do more analytics stuff but my experience and interest is in ML 😞
