Does anyone have any insight into WLB at Facebook for non technical teams/roles? Have heard it's rough for most engineers - is the business side just as bad? Obviously team dependant, but I'm coming from an industry where 60-70 hour weeks are fairly standard and looking for more balance. This is for MPK if it matters.
You have to use Facebook and Facebook messenger. At work. And at home. Enough said, screw that.
You may not work 70 hours but should check messages every half an hour probably. I think people tend to ignore counting that as work hours. It disrupts your life much more than the counted minutes. I see so many people constantly checking and typing to reply on the phone everywhere. In school, playground, at mall and restaurants. Kids are not supervised by these adults. Something should change. Tech did a lot of harm in this regard.
Depends on the role and team. I was in a non-technical team that was way too chill; basically left work after lunch because there wasn’t much to do lol. What kind of non-technical roles?
That's helpful! Still interviewing but it's with a marketing partnerships team
The last time I worked with those guys it seemed like they had a reasonable work-life balance.
