Fb recruiter told me all fb employees get a 5-10% increase in base comp year over year. Is that true?

In the past, 5% was the default as long as you were meeting expectations and not near the top of your band. This years increase was smaller.

Depends on performance, i’d say expect less than that, maybe 3 to 7 unless you’re top performer (and less if you do badly).

Also, where the employee is the salary band does matter isn't it ? E.g. for E5 say the band is 150K-190K. The employee is 180K. I would assume he will get low hikes even with exceptional performance. Also what happens if the employee hits the top of the band I.e. after he hits 190K will he stop getting hikes.

Since E5 is the terminal position, it is likely that most folks are stuck in E5 and cannot advance.

There are always hikes. Top of the band is not strict. Even if you earn well above you still get increases every year.

5% with good performance seems right

I got 7% after only 6 months because I was slightly below the average for my band

Yeah 2-5% is more typical. Of course if you kick ass you can get 10%
