Hi all, I recently received an offer from Facebook and they provided a link for a 3rd party (Hireright) to do a background check. I entered everything in the system and within a day it showed complete and report sent back to Facebook. They verified my current employment as well and HR specialist at my present company verified the dates accurately. I have 9 years US Experience with graduate degree from here plus I am a Green card. There is nothing wrong with my background but I certainly dont want to put my resignation notice till I get a green light from FB. I contacted Hireright and they said FB gives the result of background check. I asked my recruiter and he said, he doesn’t get that info and everything should br ok. So do I assume all is well? Or wait? Anyone else got hired by FB, went through this? Do they get back to you after its done or they’ll contact you only when something is wrong? Please advise!! Thanks!!
When you did the background check there’s an option to get the report delivered to you as well. When the report comes, it will make a note of any discrepancies between the info you submitted. I had two very minor discrepancies in job titles and it wasn’t an issue (nothing that was dishonest, just minor differences in names). If you were honest, there shouldn’t be an issue.
How did job title get into background check? I don’t recall that ever getting into any federal systems. Are you sure not looking at some credit report? Even so that’s weird.
The way background checks are done is a series of phone calls to past employers & looking into gov databases. So they would have gotten your title from calling your past employers
I did submit the request to get the report but it takes like 15 days.
As I said, if you were honest, why would you worry?
You worry because there could be a mistake in the report and if you don’t have it just adds to the anxiety. There is a Facebook backgrounds check email that should’ve been in CC when you got the 3rd party link. Just email them to confirm everything in the report is ok
Flags aren’t a big deal, it just signals any little discrepancy. But often they are minor like titles “Engineering Manager” vs. “Manager, Engineering” or dates of employment “Jan 1, 2018” vs. “Jan 15, 2018”. It is up to the hiring company to decide which flags and discrepancies are worth looking into. Often flags like this are not a big deal unless you lied big time about a title, experience, or dates of employment.
I’m this case was it flagged? What happens if it says cleared but like green light but if I look at the titles, it’s business title on resume vs hr system title ?
Besides what others have said, Hireright tends to be sloppy. Don't jump the gun!
They are doing the last step which is a Hadoop query over your browsing history. Once that comes back clean you will get the green light.
Please, what does a Hadoop query over my browsing history mean? What does it actually entail. Thanks
What’s this??
Did they ask about salary history in background check?
No, in fact they ask you to redact any salary info from W2s you might upload
I was in the same situation. 1. You can log into hireright portal and see the status of your check. 2. Your recruiter can file a formal request to the bg check team to get their response.
And you could shake up a few trees on customer support side of Hireright. Their managers based in US can intervene to speed things up.
How long it took in total?
How come it was done in one day? They did not verify your bachelor degree aboard?
No, they said if you have 2 degrees, just enter the latest one. I actually have an MA and MBA from US. I entered MBA which they verified from the regustrar’s office in like 10 minutes.
