Hey FBers, when you provide feedback for an interviewee, do you have a place on your feedback form to make notes about diversity characteristics (a quick note saying e.g. underrep. minority)? What kind of criteria are listed on the feedback form? I assume it's a form, not free text.
I’m a software engineer, and this applies to software engineering interviews. There’s no area on the feedback form (which is mostly a single free form text box, plus metadata such as a score and list of questions that you asked) to make such notes, and there’s no criteria / instructions listed. Nothing in training suggested that you should consider such characteristics in your evaluation. I’ve also never seen someone mention any such characteristics in either their feedback or discussion afterwards. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but I’ve never seen it.
This seems like an incredibly ridiculous question to me. Could you imagine what would happen if big companies added a feedback field for that? Does Acxiom do that or something???
I'm more just trying to get an understanding of how they attempt to implement their highly publicized diversity hiring practices.
Rooney rule. You include at least one diverse individual in your hiring process and let the best person win. That plus implicit bias training.
The publicized programs have more to do with the funnel. Once you’re in an interview it’s the same as anyone else. Although there are plenty of wackos on here that think every single minority that works at a tech company was only hired because of their race 🙄.
Why you want that to be asked?so can be hired as underrep. Monitory?
I only want to learn how the diversity hiring practices are implemented. Never said I wanted anything to be asked to anyone.
Diversity hiring practices are more about funnel, not the interview. No matter what color and race you are, you have to meet the bar. Machine and software won’t know and discriminate based on your race.
Ya fb interviews diversity candidates using diverse interviewers
You cannot write feedback that points out any protected class (age, race, gender, disabled). Therefore when looking at feedback everyone is compared on the same level.
Probably not put on the form, but a lot leftists must be more lenient with diversity hire so that they cannot be accused of being racist in case the person is not hired
I do coding phone screens and the feedback is strictly on the performance in the coding assessment.
In might group a minority candidate gets a less strict panel of interviewers... i didnt get get picked for a single minority loop after i rejected the last two ‘stars’ and yes hr did call them stars to bias folks
No.
