Got E5 offer from Facebook as ML engineer . From growth perspective how hard is going from E5 to E6? What is average number of years to make this move. Also do you need EE or above continuously in several reviews to make the move ?
You can get to e6 in a year if you optimize for it. Pick a team with problems and a manager motivated to fix those problems, execute well on solving them and get good ratings.
Average number of years is hard to say as there's a long tail of people happy at e5 and will never be promoted.
How do you identify such teams during bootcamp ? Apart from looking at team structure to see how many E5 /E6 are already there, what else can be helpful signals ?
Op what’s your background? How did you break into ML?
