FB info sec has several levels of access to the data and I know people who work there who spy/stalk on their ex, partner or anyone.
It doesnât look too good that Facebook needs outside tips to figure out whoâs abusing the system.
Another example of an outsider thinking a company should know what each employee is doing at every single second of the day. Any manager over multiple employees, by nature of this arrangement, can only take a sampling of each employeeâs work habits and activity / productivity each day, and must use some form of indirect observation to manage a team. This could be a form of a report (in this case, tattletale), being a judge of character to assess integrity, or reviewing what an employee outputs as a measure of productivity. You can keep logs on every mouse click, but it is impractical to live monitor each employee 1:1 where an abuser like this could be stopped within a day or even a week after engaging in this behavior.
I disagree. This is about data security and privacy. BofA has a smart system in place that flags if you access data outside what you need for your job. Itâs a simple tiered system and you are allowed 72 hours to explain why you had to look up Taylor Swiftâs balance or you lost your job. This applies even to Joe Smith out of Wapokeneta. Any company without this is doing a disservice to its customers.
Why would he brag about his security access? Was he to get laid by thinking he could spill on anyone in this girlâs Tinder list whilst also technically being someone on this girlâs Tinder list?
âIn a statement, Stamos said Facebook does not tolerate abuse of its controls.â Good! Iâd hate to think they were left free or even encouraged to abuse their capabilities by surprising opposing viewpoints... *cough*
Why do you think this Google employee did what he did? https://www.wired.com/2010/09/google-spy/ âBarksdale's intent didn't appear to be to prey on minors for sexual purposes, but simply to goad them and impress them with his level of access and powerâ Just plain old bullying.
Ending every sentence with "lol" was the real reason he got fired, and also the reason he will never get laid.
Speaking from experience, lol
They should assign a random escort for any user data access. User data access should be approved by a human, too, not auto-approved.
Facebook doesn't give a flying fuck about privacy beyond whatever minimum extent is forced on them in court or by law. Until they are regulated these abuses will continue.
I disagree. They wish to be a trusted company, therefore itâs in their business interests to get this right. In addition, theyâre already under a consent decree by the FCC, and GDPR is making our whole industry take stock of our handling of user data. Iâd like to know, how does Amazon control access to user data?
The real problem is that Facebook cares so little about privacy that there were no internal systems to monitor his access to private data and as a result Facebook itself never caught this. Also how many others are doing this that weren't dumb enough to brag and so haven't been caught? Pretty scary really.
Old news but thanks for sharing
