I recently gave facebook onsite n my case didnt go through first review and they want to interview me again for design n coding round. I felt i really did great in all interviews but looks like bar is really very very high that failed to communicate properly one variable n left one minor bug intialization lead for follow up. I felt heartbroken as well as gathering all energy to rock both the interviews again. How are the success rate in fb follow up onsite interview? Any clues?
I have a friend who had a follow up coding question for take home. He did it with other engineer friends and got an offer afterwards.
Wtf did you just write? Speak English?
If you initialize variables in wrong place, that means your code didn’t work, that then means you didn’t test it or tested it poorly. All are bad signals.
I could have but we were running out of time, interviewer spent lot of time on basic question i gave right solution then he asked to optimize n then for main question only 20 mins left :( May be i will work on speed for follow up practice
It’s probably when you communicated with the interviewer or tested your code, some flag signals came up. I know people who didn’t have time to write any code for a question, just were able to find the working algorithm, then got an offer. It also depends on the question though.
Most interviewers will come in for a follow up with a prejudice against you. It is an uphill battle. Good luck!
Why against? I was not rejected n it depends on person to person. I have frd at fb who takes interview n based on his opinion nothing matters except your performance in interview.
I didn’t feel there was any prejudice. I found the interviewer to be a genuinely smart guy who knew what he was doing.
How did the follow up interview go for you. Was it harder than the actual one? I have one follow up for design round myself. So any data will help me
@zyxw : How was your follow up interview? I have mine coming up too.
It wasn’t great. I was interviewing for E5. They said they can offer E4 at best. I had other offers so I moved on.
The interview itself was great. My experience with the interviewer was also good. He seemed to be a guy who knew what he doing.

Nobody knows the success rate. Just study hard and try to limit mistakes, communicate clearly, cover all the cases, and don’t falter. You can do it.
