Just finished onsite. Didn’t do well for a round out of four. Does that mean I failed?
Yeah that’s what I thought too.
Depends, what’s your ethnicity and gender?
This kind of comments are really the problem in the industry and society. You can go with those racist and misogynistic comments to f*** yourself.
How was your preparation?
I was interviewing for front end tho. Did so much leetcode but turned out useless.
Interesting! So they asked you domain knowledge types of questions?
Not necessarily - depends how badly you did on that one and how well you did on the others. Eng or non-eng? For eng we do multiple coding interviews to avoid the case where someone is good but just brainfarts on a single question. Admittedly more commonly, people will think they did well/poorly but it doesn't match what the interviewer thinks :-/ Good luck!
Thanks! I interviewed for an front end position while there were only three rounds of coding including the phone interview. That’s why I was a little worried.
We don't cut off interviews so if you think the interview should have been longer but you didn't do well, that won't be the case. But our behavioral interview is half coding and half career, so you should've at least covered one question in that. Frontend interviews should generally follow the same pattern but would just have UI focused design and coding questions.
I did well in all the rounds and still managed to get rejected. They provided a very vague feedback as usual. My mottos was fuck ‘em and move on. Good luck!
Aww. I see. I’m keeping low expectation anyway. Thanks!
Yes, fried!
Unless you killed the other 3, it could be a reject.
It probably depends on the other interviews. If they were really strong, I think FB does a good job of recognizing outliers. This was the case for me, and I got an offer. You seem to have a great attitude based on your replies here and I sincerely hope you do too! Good luck!
Thanks! I really appreciate it. Let’s hope for the best.
Well so the round I felt I did badly turns out to be okay. However the design round seems not as good. Any suggestions on front end design for the interview?
So they said no? Sorry to hear, if so. Design interviews are a crap shoot, IMO. I’m trying to figure them out, too (not for any future interviews, but because I think being good at them would actually be quite useful at work, as well).
They want additional one round for design. But I felt my design round was okay :/ Not sure how to make it better.
Why don’t you wait and find out? We weren’t there. But do let us know.
