I don't understand such posts. If you are new to blind then you should realize that most of its users including myself are unhappy with their current company. Grass is always greener on the other side :)

So you will most likely get replies from people saying it's bad, shit or whatever. I am pretty sure a company of that size will have both unhappy and happy employees. You are most likely to find unhappy ones here on blind.

Don't lie to yourself, bay area only got brown grasses. Always less brown on the other side.

And sometimes you see the lush green grass and go towards it only to realize that it was just the border that was green, inside it’s just dry and brown..

Why are you so defensive Amazon, instead of writing constructive sentences?
      Aug 18, 2018
    • Amazon x=f(f(x))
Giving counterexamples is defensive? I am writing constructive sentences, you're probably just construing them as defensive.

Aren't all companies headed toward the same growth ceiling? When your product has 2 billion users already, you start being limited by the size of the human population.
      Aug 19, 2018
    • Citibank Ilsn45
Yeah but the ways in which you can monetize the product is endless! Valuation after all is based on earning in the long run. FB doesn’t need to grow its base so much as figure out more ways to monetize it. Amazon is a prime example, pun intended 😊

Great job being bad at making assumptions and boldly acting on them. Must show in your job. For you, Confidence is the key to failure.

People are happy because of crazy bonuses, stock awards, high base pay, and exceptional benefits.

Very few actually care about the 'mission'. Most of them clock in the hours, finish the tickets, and drive home.

Even to this day, people try to reach out to other companies of all sizes asking them to arrange an interview as they are going through the Facebook process because at the end of the day when other companies offer similar pay, the satisfaction of working at those places over facebook is higher. No longer there is a need to participate in Mark's 'mission to connect people' when you go home and know that the platform is being used across the world in political campaigns to hurt hundreds of millions of people with few benefiting from it.

Or help. Kind of like meds vs drugs. Definition pivots on benefit vs abuse.

    • Facebook Dr. Dobbs
Any platform that lets people communicate with each other is open to the same criticism. Increasing human interaction has pros and cons, and it's hard to calculate the benefit of a billion people keeping in touch with their old friends a little more often.

But if you were serious about this, you'd at least try to weigh the positive and negative effects of *all* political campaigning on the platform, not only the campaigns you don't like. People blame FB for Trump, but they forget about Obama... commentators were calling it "the Facebook election" in 2008.

Facebook has suffered plenty of PR setbacks throughout its history. Employees stay happy though because the core business keeps growing.

I joined in 2010... the worst I can say is that I shouldn't have sold 10k shares at $30 (had been burned at other companies when the stocks tanked)
