Folks at Facebook, I can’t really think of a reason why joining Facebook is a good thing. I will not be advancing humanity or doing anything good to society. I can’t wake up in the morning and feel excited. Pay is good but can’t get over that feeling. I came from a medical startup where you feel that you trying to save lives. Maybe that is why I feel this way. Please help me change how I feel. Tc is 245 for a non tech finance role.
Don’t join. You’re with a startup you seem to believe in and they pay you well. So they seem to believe in you, too.

There is the Social Good & Goodwill org which includes Crisis Response (the team that owns Safety Check), Charitable Giving, Health (blood donations), Mentorship and maybe more. Facebook is far from perfect but I would encourage you to do some research, the media definitely focuses on the worst aspects of the company and many articles are pretty misleading and exaggerated.
If Amazon brings lower prices and Google makes life easier, then you can say in the same regard that Facebook makes it VERY easy to connect with friends and family.
Honestly Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google have all had overall positive impacts on my life Journalists could easily paint any company as evil if they want to, it's all about sensationalism. Companies generally aren't evil, they operate to earn returns for shareholders.

I understand that. But at least most other companies bring some good to the world. Ex: amazon brings lower prices. Google search made everybody’s life easier, etc.. I agree with OP
