Fairly compensated?

I'm at a master's level education, with an MBA on top of that. Working in a data science and analytics management split function in a small but growing software company. I have 7 years of job experience, about half of that at this software company. Earning 125k base with 8k in rsu per year. I could work in a software engineering role, analytics or data science management, product or economics role... Also, I am in Boston. I have no sense of whether this is fair, or where I could look (company and role wise) to maximize total comp. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Is it better to jump to programming ft now for the money? I've been debating that versus managerial growth opportunities to ultimately push me toward exec roles.

It’s never too late to switch, but if you’re not serious about SWE you’re going to have a bad time. Management is largely management and well compensated across the board at BigCos. If exec or senior leader in any capacity is your goal and you want to get their efficiently then you need to just pick a spot and focus on moving up or diagonal (or horizontal to a spot with headroom)

Masters and MBA are super brand dependent. If not top school, you got chumped, and it is worse than worthless due to student loans you now likely have. Engineer will trump DS any day comp wise. Supply and demand

Offbrand MBA and master's but I did them simultaneously and did not pay much.

Then you're better than most . Focus on showcasing your DS skills and how they may be applied to business. You can definitely do better than you are now

Seems a little low for the YOE, but my friends in Boston got similar lowball offers from startups there. The bigger employers will pay more.

Blind has a search feature, so you can find some TC numbers for your area, even if not your exact situation. You seem paid under market value, even outside the tech giants

Eh. Depends on what school you went to, what company you work at, and rather you’re good at what you do. I made 140k in consulting at boutique firm with no bonuses. Now my TC is ~210+ First year in big tech, so I don’t know my true TC yet. Yes I have an MBA. My previous skill career although very in need didn’t have this TC. Honestly, unless you’re pursuing specific companies with known high TC nobody is going to hand it to you. 120k isn’t bad. Boston still cheaper than Silicon Valley

Come to Wayfair. TC should be north of 200k.
