I've lived in the Bay Area for some time now and have found myself getting increasingly put off by the culture here. Having lived in the east coast and Midwest, I find that by comparison, people in those regions are much more willing to "put themselves out there" and say what they mean, even if it means exposing vulnerability. The downside, especially on the east coast is that you get your fair share of douches mixed in, but on balance I find the directness and candor of most people refreshing. Anyone else feel this way?
There is a culture of destroying someone you disagree with there, can't blame a person for not putting themselves out there.
That’s probably one of the drivers, yes. Also a culture of silent/harsh judgment of those who do.
I agree 100%. Dont forget arrogance and bad manners of bay area.
Boston: where did you go to school? NYC: how much do you make? LA: what do you drive? Bay Area: ?

Go woke, go broke: Google fires 28 employees involved in pro-Hamas protest
100%, I'm hoping Amazon build's the new HQ on the east coast so I can leave the bay.
Would you really want to work at Amazon over Google though? It's frugal and stressful
Why not just internal transfer to Boston or Pittsburgh or NYC..?
