Fb E6 vs E5

I got E6 in Facebook with total tc as 400k. I just want to know if getting E6 lower range pay is better or E5 high range pay is better. Is E6 better as there is more room for growth and better scope of good Rsu refresher? Or Is E6 more risky as I have to prove I’m worth E6

If you are dumb enough to want to take a lower level and assume higher pay at it, you probably shouldn’t even be getting an offer at E6!

It's a moot question though, right? Not like you can renegotiate your offer down to E5.

I mean, you could try, but I think it would make folks really scratch their heads and possibly consider whether you're going to be a good hire after all.

Yes that’s true.. I don’t want to get to a position where I get paid lower and expect too much from me .. 😀 As you said set expectations clearly.. Also Iam in lower side of pay for E6, may be I will be given sometime to ramp up and to grow in that band

Your pay doesn't set the expectations, it's the opposite. People in your evaluation or calibration loops won't know or care about your pay, since it's all algorithmic. They'll only know your level and performance.

But, on the other hand, if you're lower in the band and you do well, you should get much larger and quicker raises!

E6 expectation is really high. Depending on which org you join, you will get some time to ramp up though. What is your level at Cisco?

400k is probably higher than any e5 offer you could get. There may be e5s that make that or more after getting refreshers and raises, but offers can be different.
