Just received a fb L4 offers, no competing offers yet. Amazon and Microsoft onsite in one week. Offer is 140base, 10% bonus, 200/4 rsu, 30k sign on. That’s TC 204k.... after reading all the blind post this seems to be really low. Recruiter gave me one week to reply, currently Swe2 at intuit, Tc 160k

Recruiter bullshits you regarding one week.

a week is bullshit, recruiter is just playing games. that’s definitely a low offer, did you tell them your current TC?

get competing offers and negotiate. you need a compelling BATNA

best alternative to a negotiated agreement

usually another offer, but could just be your current job. eg could argue that new role isn’t furthering the skills you want so it doesn’t measure up to your best alternative, your current team. but if you don’t have a good alternative, then you don’t have much negotiation leverage and just have to bluff

No, there's no renegotiation. You're at the peak of your power now. Tell them you need to wait for otherviews, since you have been in the pipeline for a while, and it's not right to just drop the ball now, UNLESS they give you 30k/year more.

Don't say you'll settle for +$30k. You can get more than that, once your other offers are in play.

L4 can go much higher. However, the current offer is already 25% higher than your current TC. Unless you have other choices, it’s not easy to negotiate

Should I accept the offer first and attempt to renegotiate with them later if I get something better? I feel like being lowballed but have no better alternative for now

Tell the recruiter you need more time. Don’t accept, renegotiating won’t work.

Once you accept the offer you can’t negotiate. Also if you passed fb interview you can pass other companies interviews and use these offers to negotiate.

Do not take FB L4 ... they have a rigid cut of promoting to E5 in 33 months. It is very very stressful, luckily I got through it but a lot of my colleagues either left or their wlb was totally screwed up. Just looking out for you.

As in, they'll fire you if you don't get promoted?

Yes I told them my current TC range given I don’t think I can bs them anyways. Recruiter said I will have to reply since they need to give a fair chance to other candidates as well. I think I will accept first if I can’t negotiate higher and renege later if I do get a much better offer :(

Bad idea! Get them to give you another week or bump up the offer

It's very low for e4 assuming this is for SWE, I got lowballed and even my offer was higher

What would be a good base for E4 with 5 yoe?

    Almost 5 yoe

They probably know Intuit has low comp and paid you accordingly. Pretty low base for 5 YOE, but a good jump for you regardless, so congrats!

Unless you have a competing offer it’s very hard to negotiate unless you’re actually willing to lose the offer.

One week is bullshit, just say you are waiting for other offers. But don't take like 1,2 months

Very low. Sub-new grad offer. Try and get the Amazon and MS offers in hand but even if you can't negotiate hard.

Definitely wait for Amazon and Microsoft. Did the recruiter just say you have to reply within a week? That's easy. Wait a week, then reply to say you need more time.

How does your offer compare to what you told the recruiter you expected or wanted?

Just tell the recruiter you need more time to make such an important decision
