Maybe you're not that good ?
I had to leave RSUs on the table when I left my last job. FB has a LOT of pay transparency (we have a FB group where people past their review scores, equity bumps, bonus, salary increase, and total salary). So internal equity is REALLY important.
Pay transparency only driven by the employees. The system is actually pretty messed up. If you come in lowballed, expect to not make it into a good range for at least three to four years, if at all.
That's true everywhere. And that's why they try not to low ball. They care more about retention than saving money on salary
Just walk if they don’t
Why do you even want to join if TC is lower. Tell them to fuck off
TC is higher but not by much. Will push on equity.
Wait fb is offering higher TC but you want more rsu? Don't ask them for anything til you get a higher TC offer. In fact what was the offer? Everyone here seems to be assuming you got low balled so role, level, and TC would help us determine if that's even true.
Speaking from experience, not every company is as generous with yearly equity refreshes. That's one reason why you might leave RSUs on the table. Though I'm skeptical Apple is in that camp
Apple refreshes are good at low and mid range and very comparable to FB. At the high end for top performers is where FB is the clear winner where they have crazy multipliers. We don’t have those insane multipliers. But a top Apple performer will definitely make more rsu than a mid range fb employee
This is true but in my experience, Apple is great with annual refreshes. Although it does depend on org.
Focus on total yearly comp. don’t necessarily worry about what’s “left on the table”, focus on a lift for your total expected annual comp. model it out over 3 years - include everything that’s cash or equivalent (no benefits). Left on table in practice terms is often about a near term payout (could be an upcoming RSU vest). 100k RSUs doesn’t have much meaning without understanding over what time period. Create a spreadsheet and put base, bonus, and vests [not grants] (assuming some lift) year by year
Which level e5 at FB?
What are they offering you?

In my limited experience Facebook is reluctant to match previous comp or other offers, but it never hurts to ask
Really? Why?
Why is that? I also have an offer coming from Google next week. That won’t get them to move?
