Does fb go through a process similar to google? How soon can one expect to hear back after an onsite interview? I had mine last Tuesday and it’s been a week already, and am not sure if I should reach out yet.
Maybe. I will reach out tomorrow perhaps.
Got an offered and the last step was to go trough an external hiring committee (they meet twice a week). Compared to Google the decision of yes/no hire is done by your interview panel, the committee is there to validate level. (My role is in the e6/e7 range, so it may be different for more junior profiles). The recruiter was awesome and updated me on a weekly basis, but still took 3 weeks from my onsite to get a yes/no and one more week for an offer. That said, best interview process ever, independently of the outcome. I know it is stressful but sit tight and try not to think too much about it.
Did you interview for SWE? It so it seems a lil odd that you haven't heard back yet. Contact the recruiter and ask for an update.

No, there is no hiring committee (thank God for that). The individuals that interviewed you get together and take a call. I have been offered a role at FB once, and been rejected once - both happened within 2-3 days after the interview.
😣
I am pretty sure you are wrong but I let someone at Facebook corrects you.
