Considering internet penetration in India is increasing and a lot of people have mobile phones, how do we leverage this and build something to decrease corruption and lawlessness in India?
Since the law enforcement does not do it's job, fringe groups take over their job ( political goons, religious groups) Create app called "Gandhi giri" ( munnabhai inspired name :) This app will be used to raise issues and form large groups of law-abiding citizens for a cause on demand. Like Uber for peaceful protests. Some corrupt official not doing his job ? Call a mob of 20 heros near your location to put pressure on him!
Protests with "law-abiding" mob can turn into a problem of it's own quickly. For eg, people taking law into their own hands and gathering a mob to beat up someone for not standing during the national anthem. Things can escalate quickly. The law-abiding part of your use case will be thrown out of the window.
Hence the name "Gandhi-giri" We need to bring back that spirit back. Remember the large protest led by Anna Hajare were totally peaceful. He reminded everyone of Gandhiji too.
Sorry OP, you're living in a pipe dream. All the developers that can make a difference are chasing TC and H1B instead.
Exactttlyyyyy. It is what it is because everyone is chasing tc, everywhere. This is our future.
Some still remain in India due to several reasons as many companies in India offer good TC. Chasing TC doesn't mean we don't care about the place we live in. I don't want to do social work, I want to improve the environment me and my family lives in. I have committed myself to grow in India and betting on India's growth in tech.
Take videos and post. Name and shame.
Build a name and shame app.. Three things that always work in India 1. Money 2. Violence 3. Public shaming Come on, when political parties can buy votes, what else do you expect from the society
India is mess, especially educated it engineers
Create an anonymous whistleblower app to hold people accountable for their corruption. People can post videos, text files, images, etc. Think of it as Blind/Reddit for whistleblowers where you have volunteer moderators who promptly ban trolls. Your goal as an app or community is to validate that the claims are valid and to reward and normalize whistleblowing. Unfortunately, corruption in many countries is so normalized that it's sometimes hard to spot (for instance in America, political corruption is legal) and the majority of the population treats corruption as the right way and only way to do anything if you want to get anything done at all. Your app will need to teach people ethics, what is corruption, why it is not OK, provide them with the psychological safety to whistleblow and reward them for whistleblowing, and that's a massive job but normalizing whistleblowing will be your key to success.
Whistleblow and then do what? File court cases? For filing court cases, you need a face and then that face becomes target of political parties and goons.
Look up the nonprofit called As Our Own
Is there a way to pay someone to get GC quicker?
Guys personally I think it is shame on us, we passed out from top colleges in India (IITs/IIMs) earning a lot but we are so helpless that we are scared of the corrupt constable and the street goon or a local politician. I feel sick that I can let these people ruin India and lives of so much hard working Indians like me. There has to be a way... Why this is not a problem in other countries? Let's start with this.
Corruption is everywhere but just happens at higher levels in other countries. In developing countries, accountability is not baked in to the populace as a basic expectation. It’s changing slowly with the annual vigilance weeks and such but still a long way to go.
