Trapped in a terrible job and toxic environment. No real product, no teammate, no mentorship, no growth, not even a path to grow when asked about it. Leadership is as political as they can get, and absolutely zero results coming from the entire unit. Whatever I slave away for usually gets canned due to the structure of our unit (cost center), can't even show off what I've done bc they never make it to market. Been pounding the digital pavement looking for new a opportunity for 3 months now, thought I had a unique background with some cool and quantifiable achievements. Getting rejected left right and center, most of the time don't even get a phone screen. Can't quit the job bc I'm paying for my siblings tuition, just feeling super down about this whole situation. Worst part is I used to be super excited about going to work and building something useful, now I dread it day and night. Can't even talk to anyone about it bc all my friends here r all "work acquaintances", and still gotta put up a positive attitude at all times to present myself well at work and for interviews. Just needed to get it off my chest.
Sounds like you work at GE. I feel your pain!
Nah he's definitely an eBayer.
Love and hugs. Thoughts and prayers. I was in a similar situation a while ago. I hope you catch a lucky break
That's really strange, no jobs in the Bay area? Keep your head up, network, meetups use those to job hunt. Also go outside often and enjoy life after work. Having a hobby to look forward after work to made bad jobs tolerable
Which company do you work for? I'll be sure to avoid it in the future.
Open to relo?
Find recruiters on LinkedIn. They're pretty easy to find and most welcome a contact.
Can refer you . Send a DM.
Dont come here OP! It’s the same shit even here! I have been through exactly same situation and waiting to get out soon!
It's the same shit everywhere. The only way you'll truly be happy is if you work for yourself. We just put up with the bullshit because "TC".
Sounds like my job.
Lots of start ups are as you described. 1st advice is sound. Go out and meet people. Skills are commoditized. Trust and relationships are scarce. Once you build a relationship with someone on a future team that can get you in the door, which takes away about 60% of the challenge of finding a new gig.
Aren't startups the opposite? Less politics?

Why are women naked in gym?
Where are you located? Why do you think you're not getting interviews?
I'm in the bay. I'm honestly trying to figure that out as well. I have some past successes (no Elon musk of course lol), and I took a lot of time to make my resume short and results oriented. I'm speculating that maybe it's bc I crafted my resume in PS, making it unreadable to machines. In process to redo it in word but other than that I'm pretty stomped too.
Recession's acomin'. This is starting to remind me of 2008. In a little while you'll be praying to stay in that toxic environment since your rent won't be recession-adjusted for a couple of years. Hope you like your parents. That all said, I hope you're not pissing away your time doing online applications. You need to pound the literal pavement. Start having coffee with everyone you know and apply through them. It's amazing how much faster you can get an interview when someone else has your resume in-hand and is thinking about how to spend that referral bonus.
