I just want to share my story. I posted about my job a while back here. But long story short: I work at a 30 people startup that pays me TC of 100k in SF. I work my ass off (12 hrs a day including weekend, excluding on-call that wakes me up at 3am). I am one of the key people here that keeps the gear moving. VPs and CEO promise that they are going to raise my pay but that never happens. Really bad management (a lot of micromanagement) causes people to come and go. It has been really hard to LeetCode and interview with the amount of workload I have. Regardless, I work really hard to juggle my time. And recently I just landed multiple offers from top tier companies with TC of ~$250k. I got a lot of positive feedbacks. A hiring manager even said they are willing to give me at least +10% from any other offer I have. And another said that they will fight for the highest salary band for my level to get myself on the team. Apparently, every single person who interviews me likes me a lot, and they gave me a 'strong hire' recommendation. I did not expect that. My current pay and the treatment from my current managers have made me undervalue myself. I have not told my current employer that I am going to leave. I bet they will not let me go easily. Moral of the story for startup founders: Respect your employees and do not underpay them!

That moral applies to every employer. If they don't respect or underpay folks, employee will find a better employer. Congrats and good luck!
I agree. The problem is that now my resume looks bad in terms of loyalty.
If you want loyalty get a 🐕 Employers don't guarantee job for life so why should you care?

Great job buddy!
👍 this how you show them. If they don't keep their promise, they can't be trusted. I am sure now they are going to offer you the salary you asked for but it is already too late Good job!
May we ask the company you left? Why not name them?
Don’t want to get myself in trouble. I am under H1 visa. And they can always screw me. I am still waiting for the visa transfer to my new company to complete.
Congratulations! It’s hard out here. 👏
Way to go man! However, I want to believe that your grind and ownerships of tasks you had at your startup helped you a lot. Cheers again!
You’re right. In a sense this experience has made me a better engineer for my yoe since I am responsible for a lot of different stuff
Congrats man 🎉
Good job! I can relate to your situation.
Way to go my man or woman.
