I’m currently a product manager for Merrill and am looking for other product manager or senior product manager opportunities. How difficult is it to transition to a different industry? Any advice?
Depends what industry. Even within finance if u are working in credit that is totally different from investments.
Investments. Online brokerage specifically
Yeah... I'm hiring in Palo Alto
Is telecommuting a possibility?
Sorry nope not really
I transitioned from SaaS to a capital/payments product (in Boston). It's tough, especially since my engineers want a PM who is an expert. But the product group is supportive and the environment is conducive to learning. If you can get an opportunity like that with a chance to learn, take it. Also fintech in general might be a good move for you since you already have the investments experience.
Great point and I’ll look into fintech. Thanks!
