Financial advisor?

I need financial advise, but I cannot find someone that can give me good unbiased advice.
Most financial advisors would want to sell me into their platform, real state agents would recommend whatever makes them a profit, etc.

Is it possible to hire someone for advice that is not trying to make profit out of my financial decisions and whose only motivation to advice is their hourly / consultation fee? I would be happy to pay more knowing that they will give me relatively unbiased advice.

  • Try to find fiduciary offices.

Or, be your own financial advisor through self education and curiosity.

Haven't you ever had the feeling that while you are just learning there is someone that is years ahead and you are missing out by not leveraging their knowledge?

Fiduciary is the term I was looking for. Thanks, search results are very helpful

    • Agreed, you really get ahead when you surround yourself with people smarter than you.

However, you should also still be able to have fundamental knowledge of whatever they may be doing.

Yes! I think I know enough to be able to tell if they are trying to take advantage of me. I am not quite clueless. I just feel there is many things I don't know how to even search for. Having someone help me get started would go a long way

I can train you in basic stock picking techniques, alternative investments, managing your money and planning for future growth. I’m not a pro but really good at what I do.

Would you be willing to do this for free, or as a paid service? Asking because if you're going to do it for free you could consider starting a blog or YouTube channel to help the masses

Cool. DM me. As I said I’m not pro so can’t tell you the fee. You can pay what you feel is worth.

I have similar situations as you OP. Let me know what you find. I think I’m going to try CPA as well.

Look for advice-only financial advisors. These are usually fiduciaries who charge only for consultation/advice and are not asset managers.

Look up Bogleheads and find the wiki. What you probably want is a "fee only financial advisor" that charges you a flat fee/rate to come up with a plan or navigate the buying/selling/investing you want to do. They don't sell any products or stocks etc. They sell their financial advise for a fee. A fiduciary is similar. They have the clients needs in mind, not that of a securities product they sell. There is a.website to look up these type of advisors but it escapes me. It's probably on the boglehead wiki somewhere.

  • What financial advice are you after?

If you're looking for investment advice, unbiased simply does not exist. Every investor has created a system of trial and error based on prior experience to predict the future. Its calculated gambling. Some are better with their bets than others, some are just lucky. But not one soul on this earth can truly, accurately predict the future. They can however create the future. This is what large institutional investors do with high volume trading and market manipulation.

If you are truly after unbiased advice, I'll offer it here - read a multitude of books and articles on the specific topic you want advice on. Learn from many people who have succeeded in what you are after, and from there, implement a plan that is truly unbiased, and truly yours.

I want to move to a bigger house.
I don't know whether to sell my condo and buy something smaller or rent it. i don't know if i should sell my fb stock or tap on the equity of my condo to assist with downpayment.
I have some money in robo investor. I have in addition to my condo a smaller property.

Of course devil is in the details and I don't feel confident enough about the potential decisions. Could use some advice

You can pay me a consulting fee and I’ll help you out. I won’t sell you on any products ;)

Well, you would have to convince me that you know what you are doing and that your fee matches your record/qualifications.
If it does, I would pay you

If you want directional help then just run the numbers. Create scenarios. Then get someone more experienced to share insight.
