How difficult is it to land interviews and offers during the holiday season? Should I even bother contacting my network and recruiters right now, or should I wait until the new year? Just worried that everyone is going to be on vacation.
Business always slows down for the holidays. If there’s a company with an urgent need you might land something. I just got a new job last week. Usually it’s hard to get jobs around December tho.
keep on interviewing no matter the season. u never know where and when u r going to end up. it also gives u practice and makes u be better prepared
The best answer there is
Also, some company looking to hire in January may start interviewing in winter.
In some cases companies are urgent to fill their open headcount before end of year.
I started interviewing just afterwards Thanksgiving..recruiters want to reach their goals and things move very fast..
Go for it! People are in a better mood. I land a job at Google the week before Christmas. Best Christmas present ever!!
People are trying to fill empty head count. Some companies will lower the bar because a medium engineer is better than no engineer in their eyes. Not facebook but yeah. So yes interview now.
I think it's a great time, I just got a new job and had recruiters and hiring managers scheduling interviews left and right
I wouldn’t do it - people go on vacation, things slow down, multiple companies become more difficult to juggle. And do you want to stress out about that during the holidays? But if you’re interviewing with very few companies, it should be ok.
FWIW, I've only ever gotten new jobs in the winter. Holiday slowdown makes it easier to a accumulate a couple offers at once.
Wait until new year. New headcounts become available then.
This is correct, but if he starts now he can just have the onsite in january
For the companies that are growing fast though they might not have been able to hire all they could in 2018 and they will lose some of their hiring count if they don't close on all of their positions for 2018. I wouldn't wait if there's a great opportunity out there that you know about unless you're looking to create a bidding war on multiple offers and can't do that if others aren't hiring right now.
